The protein fractionation process utilized by the skimmer is both straightforward and highly effective. It operates by injecting a mixture of ozone and air into the water through an ozone-resistant pressure venturi injector. This injector creates a stream of tiny bubbles, significantly increasing the contact area between air and water. As these microscopic bubbles rise through the water column inside the skimmer, organic waste particles adhere to their surface due to hydrophobic interactions at the air-water interface.
Over time, these bubbles accumulate and form a dense foam, which carries the trapped organic matter upward. The foam is then collected in a designated waste collection cup, where it is removed from the system. This process effectively eliminates a variety of unwanted substances from the water, including proteins, amino acids, fatty acids, carbohydrates, enzymes, organic debris, algae, inorganic compounds, and even microorganisms such as protozoa.
